Detect emerging threats like Phlashing and PDoS attacks. Be one step ahead and detect emerging threats like Permanent Denial of Service and Phlashing attacks, that damage your hardware.

For PDoS and Phlashing attacks a special type of EDR is required that detects if your hardware is being damaged. Permanent Denial of Service attacks (PDoS) can render VM hardware useless, irrevocably damaging the hardware beyond use, facilitating the need for an expensive replacement. With time consuming consequences for the owner. Along with hardware replacement potentially data may be forever lost, some backups may fail leaving the user in a perilous position. The knock-on effect can cause huge damage to any organization. Syvir VM will alert you when internal VM components start being stressed and when a suspected DoS,PDoS and Phlashing attack is happening to your systems.

Syvir VM solution provides unrivaled visibility into a VM PDoS attack, in a fully integrated cloud service.Determine if a PDoS attack is occurring with anomaly-based detection. Receive alarms if VM internal components get stressed or start having issues.Detect changes in performance which could signal a PDoS attack. Syvir VM works with Microsoft Defender.

Syvir VM is designed to monitor VMs for types of attacks that cause physical damage to internal components.

Syvir provide SaaS monitoring solutions designed specifically for your unique challenges. Our team analyzes your requirements, develops customized strategies, and ensures seamless implementation.

Your guide to Hardware attacks

This is a short guide to the different types of hardware attacks....

Permanent Denial of Service (PDoS) attacks can render VM hardware useless, irrevocably damaging the hardware beyond use, facilitating the need for an expensive replacement. With time consuming consequences for the owner. Along with hardware replacement potentially data may be forever lost, some backups may fail leaving the user in a perilous position. The knock-on effect can cause huge damage to any organization.

Firmware can be re-flashed with malware. This can brick the VM making it un-useable. In particular the BIOS UEFI being re-flashed will cause boot-up issues.

Hackers will try and increase the voltage of the CPU, this will lead to reliability issues and possible breakdown. When a CPU voltage change is detected, the Syvir VM Voltage Change sensor is set to DOWN. When a change is detected, a hardware component test is performed every five minutes for several hours. This test alerts you if components start being stressed or a component driver has an issue.

As with CPU Voltage, Hackers will try and increase the clock speed of the CPU, this will lead to reliability issues and possible breakdown. When a CPU clock speed change is detected, the Syvir VM Clock Speed sensor is set to DOWN. When a change is detected, a hardware component test is performed every five minutes for several hours. This test alerts you if components start being stressed or a component driver has an issue..

A hacker may try and insert a fake type of USB stick that generates a high voltage into the Endpoint. Syvir Endpoint checks the USB hub for issues, if a high voltage attack occurs, the USBK sensor will not be able to stop the attack, but maybe able; before the USB hub or whole motherboard is fried, to send an alarm and email. In that instance you can then check other endpoints for malicious USB killer.

Syvir AntiPDoS technology incorporates Vector Phase Sensors that monitor key system metric like Kernel. A Permanent Denial of Service attack may create a lot of LLA kernel use that will generate a PDoS alarm.

A Denial-of-service (DoS) attack is a system-on-system attack. A Denial-of-service cyber attack inundates the VM with excessive traffic or resource requests, the result of this renders the VM unusable to the user. Security perimeters are often not breached with a DoS attack, so conventional security software may not detect such an attack.
